Project Manager/ Language Specialist (DE & EN)

On behalf of our client, a leading bank in Zürich, we are looking for a Project Manager/ Language Learning Specialist to help with business translation needs. For this contract position based in Zurich in Switzerland our client is looking for a German & English speaking candidate who can start as soon as possible. Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity with a market leading global company then please have a look at the details:


  • End-to-end responsibility for processing translation requests coming from the client
  • Check the order, clarify any issues with the client, gather general information and help documents
  • Apply changes/additions if necessary to the prepared documents/requests
  • Review the content of the source text and allocate to correct resources (internal/external), taking into account quality and cost
  • Negotiate deadlines with customers and providers (agencies, freelance and internal translators)
  • Resource planning at the time a project is announced, especially for big projects
  • Management of recurring (big) projects
  • Efficient collaboration with Translation Technology and Terminology units


  • Handling a high number of requests at times under time pressure
  • Acting as interface between client request, external translation provider, internal translator
  • Dealing with dependencies and situations that require special solutions
  • Finding solutions to suit both the client and translator with the required quality


  • At least 2 years of experience working in a similar role
  • German and English: very good oral and written skills. French, Italian and other languages an advantage.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Translation tools such as Star James or Star Transit
  • Highly-developed computer skills (MS Office, Windows)
  • Experience working with workflow tools (for example STL Trados or any related products)
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail orientation with the ability to multitask
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in translation and localization project management would be a strong advantage
  • Degree in translation studies or languages an advantage
  • Experience of interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Banking industry experience
